Governor Brian Kemp issued an executive order July XX suspending Kelvin Owens, mayor of Camilla, of his office effective immediately.

This comes after Owens was indicted on May 28, 2025 for charges of election interference and conspiracy to commit election fraud. The governor’s office was made aware of the indictment and created a commission to review Owens’ alleged offenses on June XX.

Following that decision, Gov. Kemp signed an executive order suspending Owens from the mayor’s office “immediately and without further action.”
