XX years ago: XX Jul 1973 US Ambassador to #Jamaica Vincent DeRoulet resigned after being declared “persona non grata” by PM Michael Manley. Made several controversial statements in four year tenure - most notably, claimed “a deal” with Manley not to intervene in 1972 elections if he promised not to nationalise American bauxite company operations in Jamaica.
