80-years ago today, Wally Stradwick, 22, a Fleet Air Arm fighter pilot from Clapham, south London, was shot down in his Corsair carrier-fighter during a low-level daylight operation to strafe an airfield east of Tokyo. He was the first British airman to be killed over Japan.
