Substrate is a collection of technologies that make up the foundation of Polkadot. These technologies are modular, allowing developers to build a blockchain simply by combining the functionalities they need. In particular, the components that make up the runtime are organized into structures called pallets. When developing a new chain, developers can easily add or remove features by selecting the appropriate pallets.
