I thank the EU and its member states for their unity and strength, which significantly raises the cost of war for the aggressor. The EU's new sanctions target Russia's energy and financial sectors, the "shadow fleet" and its ecosystem, dual-use goods and technologies, and 'Nord Streams'. I welcome the decision to lower the oil price cap, additional steps to counter the circumvention of sanctions, including through the third countries. Depriving Russia of its oil revenues is critical for putting an end to its aggression. Ukraine continues to work with the EU and partners within the sanctions coalition to defund the Russian war machine, force Russia to accept a full and unconditional ceasefire and end its war against Ukraine. I also welcome sanctions hitting Russian criminals who indoctrinate deported Ukrainian children. As Moscow rejects peace, powerful transatlantic pressure is the only effective way to advance diplomatic efforts. Russia must realize that continuing the war is futile.
