Eurostat data, from 2002 to 2024, shows cumulative inflation in euro area was approximately 56%. That means €100 in 2002 has the purchasing power of about €64 today. It takes 6.5x more euros to buy the same ounce of gold today. Euro has depreciated considerably in real terms.
