dYdX operates on its own custom built blockchain, developed using the Cosmos SDK. 
This decision allows the protocol to have complete control over performance, scalability, and decentralization, unlike relying on shared infrastructure from general purpose chains. 

By building its own chain, @dYdX can offer fully on chain order books, faster execution, and greater reliability, all while maintaining the core values of transparency and trustlessness.
