❗️No Washington for Umerov — now he heads Ukraine’s National Security Council

Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov has been appointed as the new Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.

He was previously considered for the post of ambassador to the U.S., but Washington reportedly rejected his candidacy — unofficially due to his loyalty to Andriy Yermak and potential “reputational risks.”

Now Umerov isn’t going to Washington — he’s taking charge of Ukraine’s top strategic council at home.
