The core issue I see with jet engine co-development is what I call the ‘Rafale syndrome’. You invest billions, enter into a partnership, and six years down the line you’re still stuck in the expediting and dependency phase. 

We saw it during Mirage upgrade, we saw it in Project 75, We saw it in Rafale ISE and now I fear that in jet engine.

You can’t even raise concerns publicly because it risks souring strategic diplomatic relations. This creates a cycle where national interests take a back seat to geopolitical sensitivities.
