In reality though, the funds were immediately stolen.

In this case the scammer used a service—an instaswapper—to go from BTC->ETH.

You've heard about these in basically every ZachXBT thread. I have to actually explain them now.

The way they work is dead simple:
- You indicate you want to swap BTC for ETH
- You provide your receiving (ETH) address
- The service then spits out a one-time-use deposit (BTC) address
- You send your BTC to that deposit address
- The service sends you ETH from their hot wallet
- The end
