Since this post took off, I'll give the final main point here:

You are underestimating the benefits of diversification.

You need to experiment with the principle that the whole can be greater than the sum of the parts. You need to see how rebalancing "works". You need to understand the marginal value that a position brings from complementing your portfolio construction in particular.
