@immistered01 $XXX billion sounds huge to you and me, but it's pocket change in government terms. The total Medicaid budget in FY 2023 was around $XXX billion... $523B federal, $306B state. A fraction of a percent isn’t breaking the system. In fact, ER costs would be much higher without it.
