The truth is the Germans used pools as a way to exterminate jews in especially evil ways. The guards would super glue gold and silver coins to the bottom of the pool at night, then on hot days, allow the prisoners to go for a "swim" to cool off -- knowing exactly what would happen next. Hapless jews would see the coins at the bottom of the pool, frantically dive to get the money, and stay under trying to pick up the coin so long they often drowned themselves, unable to come up for air when money was at stake! All while the guards just laughed from the towers. You might think it's a funny meme, but making jews drown themselves trying to retrieve coins is horrible part of the history of those camps.
