NBA Team Report (Trailblazers): The Portland Trail Blazers and free agent guard Damian Lillard have reportedly agreed to terms on a three-year contract for Lillard to return to the team after being traded away back in 2023 to the Milwaukee Bucks. Lillard's deal with Portland is reportedly worth $XX million and features a player option for 2027/2028 and a full no-trade clause.

Lillard, 35, was linked to the Trail Blazers upon his departure from Milwaukee, as Lillard resides in Oregon during the offseason. Lillard was also linked to the Boston Celtics, as Jayson Tatum and Lillard are friends and teammates, as the duo played for Team USA during the Olympics in 2020.

Damian Lillard's return to Portland did come with a lot of discussion, as Lillard left the team on bad terms after falling out with head coach Chauncey Billups and general manager Joe Cronin. Chris Haynes reports that Lillard met with both Billups and Cronin to talk about past issues and put issues in the past for a better future and have Lillard retire as a member of the Trail Blazers.

With Portland reuniting with Lillard, the Milwaukee Bucks will receive a cap benefit due to Lillard's new deal. Milwaukee stretched out Lillard's deal over the next five seasons with a reportedly yearly cap hit of $XXXX million. The Bucks will receive an $XXXXX million dollar setoff due Lillard's deal exceeds the one-year veteran’s minimum salary over the next two seasons and annual dead-money cap hits to $XXXX million through 2029-2030.
