Never mind that these actions violated the ACLU’s own mission, which explicitly defends peaceful protest. Khalil’s tactics were not peaceful. They were coercive, disruptive, and completely at odds with the values the ACLU once claimed to uphold. Meanwhile, the organization stood silent when James Damore was fired for challenging progressive orthodoxy at Google, when pro-Israel students and professors were targeted and silenced, and when JK Rowling faced death threats for defending biological reality. This is the same ACLU whose staff publicly smeared the Covington Catholic student, even after video evidence proved his innocence. The double standard is not just glaring. It is the ACLU’s new identity. Once a principled defender of free speech, it now flinches at defending anyone who is not on the left. What remains is a hollowed out brand, a skin suit of civil liberties worn by activists who use rights as weapons for their allies and tools of exclusion for everyone else.
