Look I love David bars but honestly fuck that company.

In May 2025, David Protein acquired Epogee LLC, the sole maker of EPG (esterified propoxylated glycerol), a low calorie fat substitute (~0.7 kcal/g vs ~9 kcal/g).
EPG has been crucial for many niche food brands...used in chocolate, spreads, sauces, and, of course, protein bars. Marketed as a near zero calorie fat that tastes delicious.
It’s become a kind of “secret sauce” for small brands focused on lower calorie, higher protein products
Almost immediately after aquisition, Epogee stopped selling EPG to all other companies, allegedly having “stockpiled two years’ worth” of supply.
In which now David is being sued by a few brands for violating federal antitrust laws.
