This really show how in the end it was never Hikmat's goal to save the Druze people. Hikmat's interests was only his own well being, and now that Sunni tribal forces are once again breaching into Suwayda and the Israelis are not coming to his aid, he's asking for protection from the Damascus government.

The very same government whose forces he ambushed and executed on numerous occasions, the same government which offered him multiple ceasefires to deescalate the situation, all of which he refused.

The Syrian government needs to intervene right now to prevent another round of sectarian bloodshed, but Hikmat needs to answer for his part in the violence afterwards.
