Not sure how familiar you are with calendar spread if you choose this for these trades but o roll monthly, whenever there is a spike on $VIX to get more premium back. Of calls get OTM I roll to next month higher. If you get over your skis close to exp, I still roll out and up but I might pay the difference in the small loss on short side by rolling the long side up a strike or few. “Do the dance” Happy to discuss further if needed with some examples if needed but if you are doing leaps, this is the best way to do it!
