Some jumbled thoughts ⬇️ In the past few years, crypto has institutionalized itself in an appeal to Wall Street. For better or worse, that’s where we are today. Onchain, but designed for the exact people we were trying to replace. The ideology of crypto has changed a lot since this happened. It used to be about privacy, protecting your assets, and making money open to everyone. Now it’s about setting up your infrastructure to be compliant with Wall Street. Everyone is happy with this because everyone is making money. But it feels like we’re missing the boat. We’re destroying our chance at replacing a corrupt system designed to take from us. Just because OG crypto holders make money doesn’t mean we should be giving up our original goal: replace the suits. I’m not naive though; I understand this is beneficial and that a middle-ground was the best deal we were going to get. If crypto is used at all, that’s a win for society. I just can’t help but feel not great that we’re giving ourselves up to Wall Street for a little money. Mixed feelings today after the House passed three important crypto bills. Some jumbled thoughts ⬇️
In the past few years, crypto has institutionalized itself in an appeal to Wall Street. For better or worse, that’s where we are today. Onchain, but designed for the exact people we were trying to replace.
The ideology of crypto has changed a lot since this happened. It used to be about privacy, protecting your assets, and making money open to everyone. Now it’s about setting up your infrastructure to be compliant with Wall Street.
Everyone is happy with this because everyone is making money. But it feels like we’re missing the boat. We’re destroying our chance at replacing a corrupt system designed to take from us.
