Enforcing the Building Code  

Engineer Maurice Akech - Executive Director, National Construction Authority: We have visited all XX counties to sensitize stakeholders about the National Building Code 2024. We have held meetings with deputy governors to discuss the implementation of the new code at both national and county levels. 

Counties will apply the same standards through architects and developers to ensure compliance. This is an ongoing process governed by the National Construction Authority Act. 

Anyone found not complying will face legal action, including a fine of one million shillings or up to three years’ imprisonment.
