The "Thank You Economy!" When you are authentic and genuinely helpful, people will find an excuse to give you money. Just to say Thank You!

When I published my Good Parts of AWS book in 2019, I had several people tell me they bought a copy even though they had no interest in AWS. They just appreciated what I was sharing or I had answered some question of theirs in a thoughtful manner about some random topic. At first I thought this was bizarre (I almost didn't like it), but then I realized that a lot of business happens like this. Accountants call this goodwill in the balance sheet, and it's the premium you get for being helpful, thoughtful, friendly, and respected.
