Largest black hole merger ever recorded

Scientists from the LIGO project have recorded the event GW231123. This is the largest black hole merger in history (of those observed), which occurred at a distance of XX billion light years from Earth. The mass of one of the holes was 103, the other XXX solar masses, which makes them the heaviest of those reliably measured. Before the merger, the objects were orbiting each other at an incredible speed, about XXXXXXX times faster than the orbital motion of the Earth.

The observation was made possible by the LIGO–Virgo–KAGRA gravitational-wave observatories, which record the weakest signals from the most powerful phenomena in the Universe. Scientists believe that both black holes were previously formed from smaller ones.
