NEW: Leavitt SHUTS DOWN the idea of Trump appointing a special prosecutor in the Epstein case.

A reporter asked: “The president has said he floated the idea of special prosecutor in the Epstein case.” 

“Can you confirm that and has he asked the Attorney General to do this, to appoint special prosecutor to look it over?”

Leavitt fired back: “Well, the idea was floated from someone into media to the president.”

“The president would not recommend a special prosecutor in the Epstein case. That’s how he feels.”

“As for his discussions with the Attorney General...I’m not sure.”
