Not a Bridge, Not a Rollup, Not a Chain, Then What Is Espresso?

@EspressoSys is trying to be the coordination layer that makes all other layers work together.

Espresso is not a Bridge:

Espresso doesn’t send coins from one chain to another. Instead, it sends information like, “this happened on Chain A” to Chain B, quickly and safely.

It’s not about moving money, it’s about making sure different blockchains stay in sync and can talk to each other.

Espresso is not a Rollup:

Rollups compress transactions and post them to L1 for security.
Espresso doesn’t settle user transactions. It confirms and sequences rollup outputs and inter-chain messages.

Espresso is not a Chain:

It doesn’t have a smart contract platform or a native dapp ecosystem.
It runs a BFT proof-of-stake network purely to coordinate other chains.

 So what is Espresso?

Espresso is a modular coordination layer that:

➜ Gives fast finality to rollups (confirmation layer)

➜ Let's rollups message to each other as if they’re on the same chain (CIRC)

➜ Offers shared sequencing across rollups to avoid MEV and fragmentation

Espresso is chain-neutral, so it doesn’t compete with L2s, it empowers them
