I agree with your sentiment. I do believe in doing your side hustles during slow times at your job or before/after, until it hopefully exceeds your expenses.

The problem is if you took on debt for this side-hustle, and you are on the hook for if it fails.

The other problem is if your main job performance deteriorated as you mentally went all in on your side hustle, which failed. You may also be laid off too.

On the other hand, the average person would be better off simply taking a second part time job on the weekends/evenings.
