I wrote this open letter to @dkhos of $UBER in May to encourage him to buy $RIVN and double-down on building Robotaxis in-house and increasing Rivian's AI/AV team to accelerate their self-driving capabilities. Building Robotaxis using Rivian's R2 plantform exclusively for Uber's use would be 🔥🔥🔥. I think the investment in Lucid shows that as naive as my letter sounded, this is a problem that UBER is taking seriously and trying to address, BUT, I still think they are going about it all wrong. Without owning THE ENTIRE STACK, they will never be able to compete with $TSLA. It's possible that Rivian is uninterested in selling to UBER - but if that's the case, this 3-way partnership with a 3rd rate EV player is still not ideal.
