Abeokuta 3rd African U18/U20 Championships: UPDATE

1: Praise Ikweki Wins Nigeria’s First Medal in High Jump at African U-18/U-20 Athletics Championship

2: Praise Ikweki has secured Nigeria’s first bronze medal in the High Jump event at the ongoing 2025 African U-18/U-20 Athletics Championship, held at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

3: In the U-18 Heat One 100m event, Nigeria’s Igbigbidje James Clifford clocked XXXXX seconds, finishing just behind South Africa’s Mukona Manavhela (11.38s). Both athletes qualified for the semi-finals.

4: Adeola Adeniji Muideen led Heat Two with XXXXX seconds, while Algeria’s Bouhdila Yasser followed in XXXXX seconds to also secure a semi-final berth. Jayen Foure won Heat Three in XXXXX seconds, ahead of Nigeria’s Egbon Destiny Chinedu (10.85s).

5: In the U-18 Girls’ 100m, Nigeria’s Mariam Jegede won the first heat in XXXXX seconds, with Congo’s Boukama Gladys (12.47s) and Ghana’s Darkoah Kwateng (12.64s) placing second and third.

6: Miracle Ezechukwu dominated Heat Two in XXXXX seconds, beating South Africa’s Oluchi Ndubueze (11.93s) and Côte d’Ivoire’s Andre Marie Joseph (12.26s).

7: Chigozie Rosemary Nwankwo emerged winner of Heat Three in the same event.

8: In the U-20 Women’s 100m heats, Nigeria’s Lucy Nwankwo achieved a new personal best of XXXXX seconds (-0.5) to win her heat.
