🇺🇸 MARKETS COOL OFF AFTER TRUMP SAYS POWELL FIRING “HIGHLY UNLIKELY”

Markets snapped back after a brief panic over reports Trump was preparing to fire Fed Chair Jerome Powell.

The president quickly dialed it down, saying he’s “highly unlikely” to remove Powell - though he “wouldn’t mind if he resigned.”

Stocks, bonds, and the dollar all reversed course after the walk-back. 

Betting markets now put the chance of Powell’s exit this year at just 20%.

For now, Powell stays. But the pressure isn’t going anywhere.
