I have been speaking about this for a while, but saying it is about the fee & simply bowing to the demand don't understand how & why negotiations dragged out.

The deal structure, how much is up front, add-ons etc were as much of an issue as the fee. If Manchester United were cash rich, no issue - the fee is bigger because they have to stretch it out for cash flexibility.

It's not about just paying what Brentford want it's paying it in a way that works for Manchester United.
