Florian Wirtz's father Hans on the kicker report from last December that Flo had extended his contract: "We couldn't understand some of the media coverage either. We always said that we could remain calm because the contract ran until 2027. At the beginning of the year, we got the impression that Florian wanted to take a new step. We communicated every step transparently to Leverkusen. And Bayer XX also behaved in a highly professional and loyal manner from the first to the last day."
