EU Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič flew to Washington yesterday on short notice for direct talks on a trade agreement with the United States. An EU negotiating team has been on-site since Tuesday. Following U.S. President Trump’s threat to impose XX% tariffs and the EU’s announcement of retaliatory tariffs, both sides aim to continue intensive negotiations before the deadline expires on August X.
