So apparently, Hikmet al-Hijri - the ever-delusional Druze warlord of Suwayda - has now formally requested His Majesty King Abdullah II to open an official border crossing between Suwayda and Jordan.

A friend of mine at the Jordanian Foreign Ministry tells me they’re already drafting the initial response. It’ll go something like:

“Of course, we’d be happy to open a border crossing - as soon as we receive an official request from His Excellency President Ahmad al-Sharia of the Syrian Arab Republic, and provided it’s staffed by Syrian government security and Ministry of Interior personnel.”

Translation:

No problem at all - just get your president to sign off.
Oh wait… that would require acknowledging you actually have one.
