After several hours of negotiations, a commitment has been made by Speaker Johnson, Leader Scalise, and Chairmen Hill, Thompson, and Rogers to attach strong anti-Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) protections to the must-pass National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). President Trump and Leader Thune are aware of this deal and have agreed to it. 

This is the best opportunity we have to get this critical language signed into law and one of the only ways to do so.

I have been consistent in my concern about a government-controlled CBDC that infringes on the rights of my constituents and all Americans. 

I look forward to seeing a prohibition on CBDCs passed into law, codifying President Trump’s executive order banning a CBDC. In exchange, I will vote yes on the GENIUS Act. Leadership must hold true to their word.
