Most vote-a-ramas run X to XX hours. The last one a few weeks ago went for XX hours – a record. This slimmed down package now claws back $X billion. We expect a final vote something around the witching hour or overnight. The services of Vice President Vance might not be needed to break a possible tie might not be needed as Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN) remains in the hospital after suffering from exhaustion. Three Republicans oppose the package: former Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) along with Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Susan Collins (R-ME). Once the Senate approves this bill, the measure goes back to the House to sync up. Fox is told some conservatives aren’t pleased with changes to the bill. And, they don’t like having to eat what the Senate approved again. But as Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MO) characterized it earlier, this was not a home run, but “a single.” Passage of this bill would mark the first time in decades that Congress had rescinded spending already approved.
