Though Ms. Mendoza declined to discuss her future plans, it's no secret she will mount a bid for City Hall. An unselfish act, that Mendoza is declining to seek another term as comptroller demonstrates she is not desperate to cling to one public office while campaigning for another. Will presumptive mayoral candidate, @Giannoulias make the same commitment to forego reelection as SoS if he announces a bid for mayor? We'd like to know. Since both the governor's mansion and the U.S. Senate are beyond his reach — Alexi wouldn't dare defy Pritzker, who has anointed Stratton for Senate — City Hall is his only option. A man with no governing vision, real policy proposals, or fiscal discipline to reverse Chicago's slide into oblivion, Alexi's apparent strategy is to campaign as the "anti-Johnson" candidate who can rake in campaign cash. Alexi may also claim to be a reformer who has improved the SoS office. This, of course, would be a terrible mistake. It will be difficult for Alexi to try and explain his disastrous rollout of REAL ID and his association with her 👇.
