I have a question for Catholics 

Asking in good faith, so I hope we can keep it civil (I’m a former Catholic now Protestant) I seek to understand

Maybe I am misunderstanding, but does this not seem to elevate Mary to a position of deity?

How can Mary bring peace to Africa?
