🇸🇦 Newcastle United's management, backed by the significant power of our Saudi Arabian owners, the Public Investment Fund, is taking a strong stance against Liverpool in a tense transfer battle. The issues are centered on Newcastle's world class striker, Alexander Isak, and has now escalated to include another transfer target, forward, Hugo Ekitike.

Liverpool has been trying to pressurise Newcastle United into selling them Alexander Isak, on the cheap, even threatening to hijack our shock pursuit of Hugo Ekitike if we refused. This aggressive and uncalled for approach has not only been totally unsuccessful but has also galvanized Newcastle's leadership, led by Chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan - who is also a big Isak fan. The PIF is said to be unimpressed by what they see as an attempt at coercion, and in response, the club is doubling down on its commitment to its project on Tyneside.

A unanimous decision has been made by all key figures at St. James Park to reiterate that Isak is not for sale this summer, after all we hold all the cards. Isak himself has not expressed any desire to leave Tyneside and is training with his team mates in Austria as normal.

Instead of backing down, Newcastle has responded by intensifying its club record pursuit of Ekitike. The club sees the young forward as a valuable addition to provide competition and cover for Isak, and they are willing to challenge Liverpool directly for his signature. While our initial bid of around £65m was rejected by Frankfurt, Newcastle has signaled its intention to return with a higher offer and has been encouraged to do so with terms already thought to have been agreed with the player.
