This statement is what I always try to tell rap fans who talk 
1.) popularity
2.) record sales
3.) trends
4.) hit records/radio play

Some rappers actually make rap music
That’s is not for you..
They focus on writing metaphors 
subject matter rhyme schemes
Story telling etc to relate to a audience
That listens to rap music for those elements first

A24 makes films for people that enjoy
Great films and know what a good film is
Dialogue/cinematography/esoteric writing etc

If they wanted to make blockbuster films
They would focus on fans that want
Marvel and DC etc
