4/ Turkey is a bit of a frenemy. They're a NATO ally. They host American nuclear forces. But they're led by an Islamist -- Recep Tayyip Erdogan -- who fancies himself a new Sultan, possibly Caliph.

But Turkey is still a democracy...mostly. Erdogan is not the Ayatollah.
