Latvian city mayor injured in Russian strike in Ukraine

Egils Helmanis, the mayor of Ogre, Latvia, was injured during a Russian attack in Ukraine. He was in the combat zone as part of a volunteer mission delivering vehicles and aid to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

According to a city council spokesperson, Helmanis is in stable condition. Latvian officials have not disclosed the exact location where he came under fire.
