OPINION:I’m CURRENTLY a believer that Pokémon Champions will be used for VGC 2026,but then after GenX releases the main VCG will switch back over to that.

I think TPC had a “what are we gonna do with VGC in 2026 problem” and champions was already a battle sim they were making. I think they thought this could be something to spice up VGC instead of having a fourth year still on stale SV formats.

I think they’ll test and see how Champions does and then decide to see if they will keep it as its own circuit in 2027 and beyond. If it’s successful maybe it will become the new VGC format… if it’s not then things will proceed as per usual.

The bottom line is IMO X year dev times are not here to stay and turn based battles aren’t changing forever in GenX.

I think they are unrelated to VGC and they needed a fix for a big delay (ZA was originally going to release holiday 2024).
