Buhari Legacy 07: Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Expressway. 

The Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road (“AKR”) is a critical carriageway that connects other parts of Nigeria to the North, it cuts through FCT, Niger, Kaduna, and Kano States. The carriageway is 375.9km long with X sections.

It’s a major national artery after the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, considered the second busiest, vital for moving people and goods in Northern Nigeria.

The first contract was awarded in 2018 to Julius Berger and work started immediately. The project, especially the Kaduna-Abuja, was faced with numerous challenges including security. 

Kano-Kaduna section of the project reached about XX% as at May 2023 and Kaduna Abuja below 20%. This is another legacy of Late President Buhari.
