Convertible Bonds are debt securities that combine features of bonds and stocks.

They traditionally offer interest and have a maturity date but also include an option to convert into shares at a set price.

If the shares of that company’s stock stays below the conversion price, the bond functions as traditional debt and is repaid at maturity. If the stock rises above the conversion price, investors can convert their bonds into shares, gaining equity upside.
