If by hitting worse (both Avg and OPS).. ok sure. In 1975 the NL had XX players bat over .300. Today there is just one despite X more teams in the league. Will Smith is hitting .323, good for 6th in 1975.

If you want to say there are more HR’s, sure, that would be true. The fact is the pitching and the hitting were better XX years ago and beyond.

The pursuit of max velocity and launch angle have inversely impacted the quality of play.
