Egypt is said to have chosen Chinese SAM, unlike Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE chosen Korean M-SAM-II. Meanwhile, Iraq is said to be receiving its first M-SAM-II battery soon. Since China's arms exports have been declining, it is meaningful success. At any rate, Egypt seems to try different flavors from different countries. Although Korea did not participate in bid in the first place and they're busy to supply M-SAM-II to the Middle East. The export version of the M-SAM-II uses whole new multi-function AESA radar with advanced semiconductor technology, beamforming capabilities, and powerful embedded cooling capabilities, and is interoperable with central nodes (C2), THAAD, and PAC's sensors. The M-SAM-II is a dedicated ballistic missile interceptor system, and its interceptor can be thought of as a cheap PAC-3 interceptor. Hanwha Aerospace is negotiating with Egypt for Taipers and K239 rocket artillery. We shall see about this. The UAE and Saudi Arabia also operate the K239 rocket artillery, and Iraq and Egypt should strongly consider the K239. Hanwha can provide more sensitive and more powerful missiles than the US HIMARS would provide for Middle Eastern countries. And their weapons are relatively inexpensive and can be delivered quickly. Don't forget the existence of the L-SAM series systems, too.
