We should never have been in Afghanistan. There was no reason for it, beyond being a geopolitical vassal of the United States.  

This is what happens when you are reduced to leasing American nuclear ballistic missiles for your nuclear deterrent. Decades ago, we decided to have a deterrent on the cheap; we knew it came with conditions, mainly having to align with all US foreign interests. 

Autonomy is priceless.
