An Indian woman was caught shoplifting in US, and racists are of course using it to fuel hate against India.

In US, over XX million shoplifting cases happen every year, and hardly any involve Indians. Vast majority of Indians in US are law-abiding.

But still, Indians abroad or planning to go should still remember that the margin for error is very low for you because they hate you. So don’t commit crimes, and if you do, just accept it and face the punishment. Don’t behave like you are in India, where you can get away by denying, arguing, throwing your weight around, or bribing.
