British member of the Imperial Civil Service, Allan Octavian Hume, was the founder of the Indian National Congress.

Congress's sole purpose was to delay & slow the independence movement.

Remember, Congress called off the Non-Cooperation movement after a freak Chauri Chaura incident in 1922
