I have worked in the road construction industry for X years as a consultant. I have been involved in projects such as the Delhi–Mumbai and Amritsar–Jamnagar corridors, as well as numerous National Highways, state highways, city roads, and rural road projects. Based on my experience, I can confidently say that the easiest thing in engineering is to build a good-quality road.

Any contractor can construct a good-quality road, but the level of corruption in this industry is beyond imagination.

Roads have become ATMs for the ruling government, NHAI/PWD/Municipal officers, consultants, and contractors. From ministers to material engineers, everyone makes money in road construction.

Roads are no longer built for infrastructure growth- they are built to withdraw cash from this ATM. And if the roads last long, how will they withdraw cash again and again?
