Putin doesn‘t just seek to subjugate Ukraine but wants Russia to become the „Third Rome“. And Moscow can‘t become the Third Rome without conquering Kyiv. Because Kyiv is to Russia, what Constantinople used to be to The Byzantine Empire. Europeans don‘t understand what‘s at stake.
